welcome
The College of Public Preceptors comprises all those public preceptors actively working in the ordination process of the Western Buddhist Order.
preceptorscollege.org shares our thoughts and relevant information with other preceptors, with those who have asked for ordination and with other members of the Western Buddhist Order (Trailokya Bauddha Mahasangha). Anyone looking for more general information about the Western Buddhist Order or the Buddhist movement that we have created would probably be best starting at here.
The Western Buddhist Order is a community of men and women committed to the Three Jewels: the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. The Public Preceptors oversee ordination into the Order, helping men and women in the process towards joining and performing the public ordination itself. We are also responsible for training and supporting private preceptors.
The section ‘about us’ has information about individual public preceptors and our formal working arrangements as a College. The section ‘procedures’ hopes to inform preceptors about how to do things. It simply runs through the different procedures we have set up for dealing with a variety of matters, giving form to some of our most important spiritual principles. In our ‘blog’ you can find more material about our collective and individual work and activites, as well as some of our current thinking.
In the section 'private preceptors' you will find a list of all the current private preceptors in the Western Buddhist Order. And preceptors can find further information about precepting, ordination, sadhanas and name giving.
Finally, there is a section on ‘funding’. The College tries to finance itself independently. Any help you can give in the way of a donation will be very much appreciated.
